I'm thrilled to announce that I'm running for reelection to the College of the Desert Board of Trustees! During the past 4 years, we've made incredible strides in improving educational opportunities, supporting our students, and strengthening our community. There's still more work to be done, and I’m committed to continuing our progress together.
Your support means everything—let’s keep moving forward!
Dear Friends and Community Members,
It’s been an honor to serve as your Trustee for College of the Desert, Area 2, since 2020. As I seek re-election this November, I’m committed to continuing the work that empowers our students and strengthens our community.
In recent years, we’ve made exciting progress by expanding key programs in renewable energy, cybersecurity, nursing, and dual enrollment, allowing high school students to earn college credits and get a head start on their careers. By partnering with local businesses, we’ve also created valuable Internships and job placements, providing students with hands-on experience. Additionally, the Roadrunner Express transportation initiative has connected students across campuses, eliminating barriers to education.
Our campus facilities have seen improvements, including the opening of the Indio Childhood Development Center, as well as upgraded classrooms and labs to enhance the learning environment. We’ve also launched the Basic Needs Center, ensuring that students have access to essential resources such as food, housing, and financial aid. Our targeted strategies have helped boost graduation rates, making sure more students can achieve their academic goals.
Beyond education, I’ve worked on critical initiatives to improve the quality of life in our region, from serving on the Water Quality Control Board to addressing public health and economic challenges with organizations like Lift to Rise. These efforts reflect my dedication to not only our students but to the entire community.
As we move forward, I am excited about what we can achieve together. I ask for your support this November to continue building a brighter future for College of the Desert and all those we serve.
Thank you for your trust and partnership. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Sincerely,
Beatriz “Bea” Gonzalez
